Certificate Programs

Real Estate

General Requirements

Admission to the Real Estate certificate program requires candidates to be a high school graduate or have a General Education Development (GED) certificate. Entering students are also required to interview with an admissions representative and complete the NBC placement test as part of the admissions process.

Course Offerings and Certificate Requirements

The School of Commerce certificate programs are derived from its Associate in Applied Science Degree programs. Students may transfer credits earned in a certificate program to the related degree program at any time.

Certificate programs do not require students to complete general education coursework and are most appropriate for individuals who wish to gain career skills in as short a time as possible without a degree. In order to obtain a real estate certificate, students must complete the courses below for a total of 26 credit hours. This requirement increases to 28 credit hours for students who do not demonstrate competency in mathematics on the Northwestern Business College placement exam, who will also need to complete a two-credit hour Preparation for College Math course during their first quarter. Please note that the order in which these courses are completed will be determined by the age of the student upon entry into the program, in accordance with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation's (IDFPR) requirements regarding real estate sales agent and real estate broker licensing eligibility.
