$100 SEVIS fee (I-901 fee)
The SEVIS I-901 fee is mandated by Congress to support the program office and the automated system that keeps track of students and exchange visitors and ensures that they maintain their status while in the United States. As of September 1, 2004 each student or exchange visitor issued an initial I-20 is responsible for paying this fee to SEVP.
There are two options for fee payment. Individuals can either pay by credit or debit card via the internet by visiting http://www.fmjfee.com/. This is the fastest way to actually process the I-901 fee payment.
To help speed up the process, it is recommended that students bring a credit card with them when meeting with the DSO to receive their I-20. The DSO can assist in the I-901 fee payment process online.
The other option is to pay by check or money order by mailing payment to SEVP. All checks and money orders must be made payable to the “I-901 Student/Exchange Visitor Processing Fee.” If you choose to pay by mail be sure to submit the check along with the I-901 Fee Remittance form.
